Point Mallard Ducks
Weekend Summary

10/2-10/5/15

Texas Brahmas and Euless Stars

Friday, October 2, vs Texas

The Ducks found themselves down 3-1 going into the final period at NYTEX Arena against a strong Brahmas team. The Ducks went up early in the first period on a Justin Dunn goal but three unanswered goals, two by Kyle Galloway, led to the deficit. With about six minutes left the Brahmas were whistled for too many men on the ice. Justin Delisle’s power play goal cut the lead in half and set the stage for a dramatic finish. With goaltender, Cooper Seedott pulled for the extra attacker, Jake Champaign scored his first of the season with 43 seconds remaining. On to the exciting 3v3 overtime. Josh Hamilton sealed the OT victory for the Ducks with some unselfish passes with Jake Cox, just a 1:42 into the extra session. A hard fought, come from behind victory to start the 4 game weekend.

Saturday, October 3, Vs Texas

In a game where momentum switched back and forth several times, the Ducks were able to prevail over the Brahmas by a score of 3-1. Justin Clark and Jake Cox got the first two goals for the Ducks before Texas got on the board with a goal on a delayed penalty. The Brahmas were able to pull their goaltender and cash in on the 6v5. Jake Champaign got the Ducks third goal to seal the game at the 8:12 of the third period. Josh Martin was outstanding between the pipes to get the win.

Sunday, October 4, vs Euless

With a short turn around from the evening game, the Ducks and the Stars squared off at 10:30am on Sunday morning. After two periods the Ducks were up by a score of 3-1. The Stars were battling and the Ducks just couldn’t get the separation goals that they needed. Jake Cox, Jake Champaign, and Josh Hamilton all added third period goals to get the separation that Coach Winkler was looking for. Another strong performance by Josh Martin in net, and a strong team effort propelled the Ducks to their 3 straight win.

Monday, October 5, Vs Euless

With the goal of finishing the road trip with a fourth win, the Ducks took the ice again for another 10:30am start at the Dr. Pepper Center. The Ducks came out on a mission and raced to a 5-0 lead on goals by: Jake Cox, Steven Butler, Cody Lavalley, and two by Josh Hamilton. Hamilton would go on to record a hat trick in the most unlikely way, all on short-handed goals. Justin Dunn would score another and Steven Butler would finish with two. Cooper Seedott, who would get his second win on the trip, gave way to Gary Glassman to finish the game and make his Ducks debut.

The final score was 8-1 and a 4 win road trip.
