Nashville downs Point Mallard in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

 

Nashville's Kyle Van Wyk scored 2:13 into overtime to beat Point Mallard, 5-4 (OT).

 

Nashville got the win thanks to a great game by Van Wyk, who had two goals and one assist. Van Wyk scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:16 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Nashville had taken the advantage when Point Mallard's Matt Darnell got sent off for head contact. Logan Orem provided the assist. Van Wyk's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Nashville with 17:47 left in overtime. Riley McCann picked up the assist.

Nashville kept Point Mallard's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cooper Seedott made 28 saves on 33 shots.

Nashville additionally got points from Dylan Schmidt, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Nashville included Trent Kulczyk and Nicholas Redmon, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Nashville were Peter Cabala, Josh Hill, Michael Redmon, and Nathan Rieman, who contributed one each.

Point Mallard also got points from Justin Dunn, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Point Mallard also had goals scored by Josh Hamilton and Jaleel Rosemond, who each put in one. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Jake Cox, Justin Clark, and Jake Champaign, who each chipped in one and Grant Dukus and Matt Goodman, who contributed two each.

Nashville's Ricky Gonzalez stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Nashville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Point Mallard incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
