Point Mallard Ducks introduces assistant coach

Assisting Coach Bushey in building and coaching the team is Brian Coletta, traveling 1,000 miles south from Finlandia University (NCAA DIII) to join the Point Mallard Ducks.

Coletta has spent the previous 4 years at the NCAA level, where he won a MASCAC championship with Fitchburg State University in an overtime thriller and competed in the premiere conference in Division III hockey at Finlandia, where he was promoted to full-time assistant and director of hockey operations before coming to Decatur.

Before accepting the full-time position at Finlandia Brian worked full time in a K-12 school as an educational mentor and in a state placement home mentoring at-risk youth.

“First of all I am very happy to be in Decatur and to join this community.  From day one I’ve been impressed and humbled by the professionalism and commitment to success from every member of this organization, and I am privileged and honored to accept the position of assistant coach with the Point Mallard Ducks.  I would like to thank Ryan McCormack, Nathan Bowen and the entire TPH organization for this opportunity, and I am going to enjoy working very hard to make the most of it.  As coaches we have a tremendous opportunity to mentor and educate the youth, and that’s what this team is all about.  Of course it will be a process, building a winning team from scratch, but I see it as a tremendous opportunity to build something special in the great city of Decatur”
