September 18th & 19th Vs Evansville ThunderBolts
The 2015-2016 edition of the Point Mallard Ducks opened their campaign on the road in Evansville, Indiana against the expansion ThunderBolts. On Friday night, in front of a packed house, the Ducks got off to quick start as forward John Meakins scored the first two goals of the young season. The Bolts would battle back and score a late first period goal to cut their deficit in half. Stephen Coulter would score the next Ducks goal on the power play but seven minutes later the Bolts would cut the deficit again. After that the teams would exchange goals, with Justin Dunn’s power play tally with six and a half minutes left being the deciding goal. Ducks GM/Head Coach, Tom Winkler stated after the game that his team had several chance to put the game out of reach but failure to capitalize on several high quality scoring chances, allowed the scrappy Bolts to stay in the hunt until the end.
