Vs Atlanta Capitals
On Friday, September 25th, the Point Mallard Ducks travelled to Atlanta to take on their South Division rivals the Capitals. For two periods the Ducks hit Capitals goaltender Alex Zendejas with 37 shots but still found themselves down 1-0. In the third period, Justin Clark broke through with a power play goal around the nine minute mark. The teams were only even for a few minutes as Atlanta capitalized on a broken play deep in the Ducks zone. This set the stage for some late drama. With goaltender, Cooper Seedott pulled for the extra attacker, Stephen Coulter netted the game tying goal off of a set face-off play with 21 seconds left in regulation. In the thrilling 3v3 overtime. Josh Hamilton broke free of his defender and scored the game winner at the 1:31 mark of OT.

Cooper Seedott got the win stopping 29/31 shots.
Saturday, September 26th, was a different story for the Ducks. A lack of discipline and composure led to the Ducks being down 3-1 after two periods. “We let too many things that we can’t control get the better of us, we did not execute our game plan at all,” stated Ducks Head Coach Tom Winkler. The third period didn’t start any better as the Ducks gave up 3 additional goals to put themselves down 6-1. Justin Clark and Josh Hamilton scored goals after the half way mark to make the finish more interesting. “We did not play 60 minutes of hockey, and you can’t play catch-up hockey against a team like Atlanta,” stated Winkler.
