The Ducks just returned from a 4-game road trip last weekend, sweeping the College Station Spirit and Louisiana Drillers.
Point Mallard 4 @ Louisiana 3 – Six combined goals in the 3rd period highlighted a back and forth game on Thursday between Point Mallard and Louisiana, with the Ducks fighting off a comeback from the Drillers in a 4-3 win. Point Mallard snagged the early lead with a 1st period goal from Nathan Weinland. After a scoreless 2nd period, things ramped up in the 3rd period as the Ducks took a 3-0 lead with two goals in the opening four minutes of the final frame thanks to goals from Fletcher Chun and Tyler Trombly. The Drillers answered with a goal from Evan Hale to make it 3-1, but the Ducks would regain their three-goal lead thanks to Trombly’s second goal of the night and 6th goal of the season. The Drillers made things interesting in the 3rd period with another goal from Hale and their third goal from Brandon Vukasin, but could not find the equalizer in the final minutes. Ducks goalie Chris O’Shaughnessy made 33 saves in the win, while Drillers goalie Christian Kazoleas made 38 saves in the loss.
Point Mallard Ducks 3 @ Louisiana Drillers 0-A pair of goals from Mason Evans helped the Point Mallard Ducks to a 3-0 win over the Louisiana Drillers. Kevin LaPlante also notched one for the Ducks. In net, Point Mallard’s Chris O’Shaughnessy made 24 saves for the shutout, and Griffin Varricchio stopped 34 shots for Louisiana.
Point Mallard Ducks 7 @ College Station Spirit 0-Joey Bernardini made 27 saves for Point Mallard in a 7-0 shutout win over the College Station Spirit. Fletcher Chun, Nathan Weinland, Mason Evans, Charlie Scherberger, Tyler Trombly, Jesse Stepp, and Jarrett Green scored for the Ducks. Ryan O’Toole made 51 stops for the Spirit.
Point Mallard Ducks 11 @ College Station Spirit 4 – Matt Goodman had four points to lead the Ducks to an 11-4 win and a sweep of the College Station Spirit. The Mallards were bolstered by seven goals in the 2nd period. The Ducks got 1st period goals from Jesse Stepp, Kevin LaPlante and Goodman. 2nd period markers came from Eli Kendall, who had two, Stepp also added his second and other goals came from JJ Landers, Fletcher Chun, Yuval Halpert, and Michael Dlugach. Goodman would add his second goal of the game in the 3rd period. Matthew Burton, Taner Byrd, Blake Elliott and Hunter Frado scored for the Spirit.
