The Ducks fielded a team in both the Junior “A” Elite division and the College Open bracket. “The Chowder Cup is an extremely competitive tournament, and I was thrilled with how both of our teams competed. Every game there was major improvement and each kid’s confidence grew. It was great to see how we went from just being happy to be here, to expecting to win,” stated Ducks GM/Head Coach, Tom Winkler. Both team rebounded from opening day losses to achieve decisive victories in their respective pools.
“This was not an easy trip for the players, it was a long bus ride from Decatur to Boston, but again, these kids made no excuses and just played. It was a great experience for all of us!”, stated Winkler. On their off night (Friday), the Ducks went to Rhode Island to see the AAA Pawtucket Sox (Boston Red Sox affiliate) play the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox affiliate). Overall the trip was a huge success, according to Winkler it was a fantastic experience all the way around.
