Dukus nets hat trick, leads Point Mallard to 11-2 win over Sugar Land


Grant Dukus lifted the Point Mallard Ducks to an 11-2 victory with a hat trick against the Sugar Land Imperials.

Dukus got on the scoresheet 51 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 8:25 into the third and at 18:29 into the third.


Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:12 into the second period. Twelve fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Point Mallard forced Sugar Land's netminders to work without much rest, finishing with 51 shots and forcing 40 saves. Christopher Otap made 29 stops and Nick Ross made 11. The defensemen of the Ducks were also effective in the Imperials' zone, and came away with two goals.

Point Mallard additionally got points from Jake Cox, who also finished with four goals and two assists and Justin Dunn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jakob Hornsby also scored for Point Mallard. Team's Stephen Coulter and Delisle were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Sugar Land registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For the Imperials, Ryan Meyer and Anthony Chesrow were ejected from the contest.
