Kelly's hat trick helped the Ducks crush the Jr. Thunderbolts 10-0

Jason Kelly led the way with a hat trick as the Point Mallard Ducks crushed the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts 10-0 in a home game at Point Mallard Ice Complex in Point Mallard. Matt Goodman and Joe Polcaro also had big nights with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) and 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) respectively. What's more, the Point Mallard Ducks' offense had a big night, peppering Evansville with 73 shots throughout the game, to go along with Joey Bernardini's shutout. The Point Mallard Ducks took the lead early in the first on a goal from Jason Kelly and never looked back.

Jesse Stepp delivered for his team with 2 goals and Jarett Green chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first period, Kelly opened the scoring for the Ducks with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 2:29 with helpers from teammates Polcaro and Goodman. Stepp deposited a goal at 7:58 with an assist from his linemate Chun. Stepp netted a goal at 14:29 with helpers from Polcaro and Green. Kelly scored a goal at 19:45 with assists from his linemates, Polcaro and Kendall.

In the second period, Polcaro put in a goal at 6:26 with a helper from defenseman Laplante. Kelly quickly followed with a goal at 7:08 with assists from his linemates, Polcaro and Kendall. Goodman deposited a goal at 10:24 with a helper from his defensive partner, Wilks. Evans quickly followed with a goal at 11:12 with an assist from defenseman Goodman. Goodman scored a goal at 14:34 with a helper from Trombly.

In the third period, Green put in a goal at 15:56.

Point Mallard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Bernardini’s shutout, as he stopped all 32 of the shots he faced. Bernardini’s counterpart, Tucker, also had a big night, managing to stop 0 of 0, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Point Mallard Ducks’ record to (22-22-0-1).
