Point Mallard outlasts Sugar Land, 4-3


The game between Point Mallard and Sugar Land was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Point Mallard emerged with a 4-3 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Justin Dunn at 5:53 of the third period.


Dunn had a great game for Point Mallard, netting two goals.

Point Mallard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Sugar Land power plays. Point Mallard kept Sugar Land's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tristan Collins made 72 saves on 76 shots.

Point Mallard also had goals scored by Stephen Coulter and Justin Clark, who each put in one. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Jake Cox, Grant Dukus, Austin Weber, Justin Delisle, Matt Goodman, and Matt Darnell, who contributed one each.

Point Mallard's defense shut down Sugar Land's forwards for much of the game, and Sugar Land got off only 13 shots during the contest.

Sugar Land was led by Jonathan Adnell, who tallied one goal and one assist. Adnell scored 4:37 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Zac McKenna assisted on the tally. Sugar Land also got points from Luca Valenza, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kenny Garrett also scored for Sugar Land. Other players who recorded assists for Sugar Land were RC Randall and Matt DeNure, who each chipped in one.

Josh Martin made 10 saves for Point Mallard on 13 shots. Point Mallard incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sugar Land incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
