Point Mallard vanquishes Nashville in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Point Mallard defeated Nashville in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Nashville\’s shootout goals were scored by Trent Kulczyk and Josh Hill. Point Mallard\’s other shootout goals were scored by Justin Dunn and Justin Delisle.

Point Mallard came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Point Mallard fell behind 2-1 after a goal by Nashville\’s Hill at 12:51 in the second period. Point Mallard knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jake Champaign at 14:04 in the second period.

Point Mallard pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 17 penalty minutes.

Matt Darnell also scored for Point Mallard. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Josh Hamilton, Cody Thomas, and Matt Goodman, who each chipped in one.

Nashville\’s offense operated below its season average. Nashville puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

Nashville was helped by Kulczyk, who finished with one goal. Kulczyk scored on the power play 14:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nashville earned a power play opportunity when Darnell was put in the box for high sticking. Max Dorfman picked up the assist. More assists for Nashville came via Nicholas Redmon and Colton Anderson, who contributed one each.

Cooper Seedott rejected 27 shots on goal for Point Mallard. Point Mallard registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Nashville\’s Ricky Gonzalez stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Nashville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
