Point Mallard Ice Complex is a key component of the Point Mallard Park owned and operated by the City of Decatur, Department of Parks and Recreation. The park opened to the public in 1970 and includes more than 750 acres of sports and recreational facilities. Point Mallard Golf Course is an eighteen-hole championship course with a USGA rating of 73.1 and a slope rating of 124. Additionally there is a seasonal waterpark including America’s first wave pool, an Olympic pool, waterslides and a lazy river as well as soccer, baseball and softball fields and tennis courts. The Point Mallard Water Park has 232 sites, is hosted year round, and is walking distance to the rink.
The Point Mallard Ice Complex was completed in 2001 and includes a single 200 x 85 sheet of ice. There are four locker rooms currently available and a new locker room for the Point Mallard Ducks will be built out in the spring of 2014. There is bleacher seating for 350 and seating/standing room on the glass for an additional 200. Additionally the Ice Complex has 200 adjacent parking spaces and access to additional parking in near proximity in the park.
The T C Almon Recreation Center is located adjacent to the Ice Complex in the park. The Point Mallard Ducks will have access to the Recreation Center and use of the multi-purpose gymnasium, strength and conditioning facilities and weight room.
