Stepp's hat trick helped the Ducks crush the Jr. Thunderbolts 9-1

Jesse Stepp led the way with a hat trick as the Point Mallard Ducks crushed the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts 9-1 in a home game at Swonder Ice Arena in Point Mallard. Regnars Udris also had a big night with 4 points (0 goals, 4 assists). Moreover, the Point Mallard Ducks' offense had a big night, peppering Evansville with 52 shots throughout the game. The Point Mallard Ducks took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Jarett Green and never looked back.

Jason Kelly did his part, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Matt Goodman delivered for his team with 2 goals.

In the first, Kelly opened the scoring for the Ducks with a goal at 6:42 with helpers from his teammates Green and Udris. Green put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 12:51 with assists from Kelly and Udris. Stepp deposited a goal at 16:07 with a helper from defenseman Udris. Rozema quickly followed with a goal at 16:47.

During the second, Trombly answered for Point Mallard with a goal at 1:25. Stepp quickly followed with a goal at 3:00 with an assist from his linemate Chun. Goodman netted a goal at 10:59 with helpers from Trombly and Kendall. Kelly put in a goal at 13:26 with assists from his linemates, Stepp and Chun. Goodman deposited a goal at 17:48 with helpers from Laplante and Kendall.

During the third period, Stepp scored a goal at 9:41 with an assist from defenseman Udris.

The Ducks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by O’shaughnessy as he stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced. O’shaughnessy’s counterpart, Gill, also had a big night, managing to stop 43 of 52, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Point Mallard Ducks’ record to (20-19-0-1).
