The Point Mallard Ducks' offense had a big night, peppering the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts with 84 shots throughout the game. The Point Mallard Ducks took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Stephen Herbel.
Jake Cox contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Stephen Herbel did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Austin Cody chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the second, Stepp opened the scoring for the Ducks with a goal at 2:32 with helpers from his teammates Cox and Goodman. Creekmur answered for Evansville with a goal at 5:06 with helpers from Cody and Fennell. Goodman answered for the Ducks with a goal at 9:39 with an assist from Chun. Cody answered for the Jr. Thunderbolts with a goal at 15:08 with helpers from his linemates, Joensson and Rozema.
During the third, Herbel answered for Point Mallard with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 14:46 with assists from Green and Chun. Halpert scored a goal at 17:29 with a helper from fellow Ducks forward Evans. Cox quickly followed with a goal at 18:40 with assists from Herbel and Chun.
The Ducks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by O’shaughnessy’s big night as he stopped 33 of the 35 shots he faced. O’shaughnessy’s counterpart, Linenburg, also had a big night, managing to stop 79 of 84, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Point Mallard Ducks’ record to (8-5-0-0).
