Ducks complete series sweep with shutout of the Spirit 5-0

Joey Bernardini posted his first shutout of the season, stopping all 25 College Station Spirit shots.  Fletcher Chun contributed with 2 goals and Kevin LaPlante and Jesse Stepp had busy nights with 3 points each (1 goal, 2 assists).  The Ducks were deadly on the power play scoring 4 power play goals.

In the first period, Jesse Stepp opened the scoring for the Ducks with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 12:14 with a helper from his teammate Tyler Trombly.

During the second, Chun netted a goal at 8:11 with assists from Laplante and Stepp.  Chun followed up at 17:02 with helpers from Trombly and Laplante.

In the third, Laplante put in a goal at 1:46 with an assist from Stepp. Wilks scored a goal at 15:01 with a helper from Halpert.

Point Mallard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Bernardini’s shutout, as he stopped all 25 of the shots he faced. Bernardini’s counterpart, O’toole, also had a big night, managing to stop 43 of 48, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Point Mallard Ducks’ winning streak to 2 as the Ducks head to Dayton next week to take on the Falcons.
