Joey Bernardini posted a shutout, stopping all 27 of the College Station Spirit shots throughout the game. The Point Mallard Ducks took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Fletcher Chun and never looked back.
Mason Evans had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Fletcher Chun chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
During the first period, Chun opened the scoring for the Ducks with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 6:51 with a helper from defenseman Goodman. Weinland quickly followed with a goal at 8:39 with a helper from his teammate Kendall.
During the second, Evans deposited a goal at 1:05 with assists from Lopez and Anderson. Scherberger quickly followed with a goal at 2:52 with a helper from fellow Ducks forward Landers. Trombly quickly followed with a goal at 4:17 with an assist from his linemate Chun.
During the third, Stepp scored a goal at 1:39 with a helper from defenseman Laplante. Green netted a goal at 11:10 with assists from Evans and Halpert.
Point Mallard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Bernardini’s shutout, as he stopped all 27 of the shots he faced. Bernardini’s counterpart, O’toole, also had a big night, managing to stop 51 of 58, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Point Mallard Ducks’ record to (11-7-0-0).
